Frank’s Trattoria 371 First Ave (Btw 21st and 22nd St) (212) 677-7140 Frank’s Trattoria is a neighborhood favorite on 1st Avenue near East 21st Street. I lived near this restaurant for about half a year when I was in my mid twenties and fell in love with it. The unique thing about Frank's is that their restaurant dining room is tucked away behind their pizza joint, which makes for an unusual first visit. Once inside, the charm of Frank's emanates from its cozy family dining room and its robustly scrumptious Italian dishes, all served with attentive care. My favorite dish here, hands down, is the Chicken Scarpariello. Among the appetizers are an assortment of clam specialties including Frank’s version of Clams Casino and Posilippo. I can’t imagine that anyone who likes Italian food would not be happy with at least several of Frank’s dishes. |
