Knickerbocker Bar and Grill (Greenwich Village) 33 University Place (Corner of E 9th Street) (212) 228-8490 *Reservations Required The Knickerbocker Bar and Grill became my favorite steakhouse the first time I dined there. I’ve never enjoyed steak more. Their house special T-bone is so superb (and huge) I have to resist picking up the bone and gnawing on it in this fine establishment. The other perk of the Knickerbocker that won me over was the live Jazz, played at a volume that allows conversation. The dining room is dimly lit, creating a perfect steak atmosphere, and is packed with tables. I wouldn’t want to be a waiter there. The Knickerbocker is located on University place in Greenwich Village, a neighborhood I’ve frequented for over 20 years. I am still surprised that it was early 2006 before I ever knew it was there. |
