Ah! Chihuahua (Midtown East) 330 E 53rd St (Btw 1st & 2nd Ave) (212) 888-6807 It’s safe to say my favorite Mexican restaurant is Ah! Chihuahua. There are several reasons I like this place best. First the food is great and very authentic. Many of their dishes are served with a red sauce that I find to be perfectly flavored with the right essence of spices. The salsa served with their homemade tortilla chips is fresh and spicy. I most often order chicken burritos, which aren’t even on the menu. Like many of their dishes their burritos are served with surprisingly flavorful rice and refried beans. The second reason I love this place is that it is dark, small and intensely decorated with authentic Mexican memorabilia and doodads. The place is a great escape that often helps me forget that I’m in the middle of Manhattan. The third reason for my love affair with Ah! Chihuahua is their relatively large portions and low prices. |
