Ray’s Pizza (West Village) 465 6th Ave. (Corner of 11th St.) (212) 243-2253 There’s only one Ray’s Pizza. Don’t be fooled. It’s located at 465 6th Avenue at the corner of West 11th Street. Ray’s became famous in the 1970’s when a few ex-pat New Yorkers had a couple of pies delivered to London, England. The owner, who’s name wasn’t actually Ray, failed to trademark the Ray’s name and now there are literally hundreds of inferior copycat pizza joints throughout the city. The Ray’s at 6th Ave. and 11th Street has been under new ownership for some time. The pizza is still really good and it's still a part of NYC lore. |
